Alternative Dispute Resolution
Alternative Dispute Resolution (or ADR) refers to extra-judicial procedures for settling disputes without resort to litigation. Members of our ADR team are experienced with the formal procedures of arbitration and mediation and have served as advocates and arbitrators in arbitration and as advocates and mediators in mediation. In association with our intellectual property litigation practice, we assess disputes to determine not only the best solutions for our clients to resolve disputes, but also the most cost effective results for our clients. Our ADR practice is often effective to achieve our client’s goal of a good result inexpensively while also preventing the needless distractions of litigation to our client’s business.

- Served as an arbitrator in a dispute over an alleged breach of a franchise agreement for a restaurant in which the claimant sought damages and an order that respondent be required to discontinue use of trade names, trademarks, and service marks
- Served as an arbitrator in a dispute over alleged breaches of several related agreements between a manufacturer of metal alloys and an exclusive sales agent for the metal alloys
- Served as an arbitrator on a complex copyright infringement suit involving computer software and accounting
