Katy C. Worrilow, Ph.D., Founder and CEO of LifeAire Systems, has been named Entrepreneur of the Year by the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation (LVEDC) and will be presented with the award during LVEDC’s 2015 Annual Investors Meeting and Awards ceremony on March 18th. Also, it was recently announced that LifeAire Systems won the Northeastern Pennsylvania Innovation Award for Product Innovation, given to the company that best demonstrates the commercialization of a unique, innovative product that creatively and effectively meets a market need. That award will be presented to LifeAire Systems on May 7th at the annual iXchange event of Ben Franklin Technology Partners at Lehigh University.
Dr. Worrilow was recently interviewed for an editorial in the Women’s Health section of the USA Today Weekend Edition of March 6-8, 2015. In the online editorial, she discussed how her patented air purification system has increased the success rate for in vitro fertilization patients by nearly 50 percent. Other applications of her patented system may reduce the spread of communicable diseases such as influenza, tuberculosis, and measles. The technology may also help address the major problem of hospital acquired infections, thereby helping to protect a wide range of patients from infants in the neonatal intensive care unit, to patients in the operating room, and to the elderly in long-term care facilities.
