Caesar Rivise Attends Bench & Bar in Dialogue

Posted on Nov 10, 2022 in News

On Wednesday, November 2, 2022, Caesar Rivise attorneys David Tener, Michael Cornelison, Manny Pokotilow, and Leah George attended the Bench & Bar in Dialogue – Philadelphia CLE & Reception at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, PA.

The Bench & Bar in Dialogue is an annual event hosted by the Federal Circuit Bar Association that provides an opportunity for local intellectual property practitioners to network with and learn from judges in the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the court having jurisdiction over appeals from the Patent and Trademark Trial and Appeal Boards, certain other administrative agencies and federal district courts.

This year’s event was held in Philadelphia and co-hosted by the Philadelphia Intellectual Property Law Association, whose Board includes three Caesar Rivise attorneys.  The event kicked-off with a series of dynamic and engaging CLE presentations, including an ethics panel and presentations on virtual platforms and IP strategy, and concluded with a Federal Circuit judicial panel.  Following the CLE, attendees were joined by Federal Circuit judges for a reception and dinner to honor The Honorable Kimberly A. Moore, Chief Circuit Judge of the Federal Circuit, and the 40th Anniversary of the Federal Circuit Court.

In addition to its regular November 2022 session in Washington, D.C.,  the Federal Circuit was sitting in Philadelphia at the time of this year’s event and hearing arguments at Temple University Beasley School of Law, Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law, Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law, and the University of Pennsylvania Carey School of Law.  Caesar Rivise extern Gabrielle Pludo, a second-year student at Villanova Law, was able to attend the arguments and had the opportunity to ask the judges for their opinions on the importance of having a technical background as a Federal Circuit judge.  Gabrielle was also able to attend the reception and dinner portion of the event, where the Caesar Rivise group had the honor of being seating with the Honorable Richard G. Taranto, his wife, his daughter and two of his legal clerks.
